Powhatan, Historic villa in Five Forks, Virginia, United States.

Powhatan is a two-story brick villa with a hipped roof and distinctive T-shaped chimneys located on a large property in James City County. The structure sits on 250 acres and retains its original architectural features throughout the main building and surrounding grounds.

The residence was designed and built around 1750 by Richard Taliaferro, an architect who lived from 1705 to 1779. It reflects the architectural elements that were popular during that colonial period.

The Georgian architecture shows colonial-era building methods through its symmetrical facade and distinctive brick patterns, visible to visitors walking around the property.

The property sits north of the intersection of Routes 615 and 5, making it relatively easy to locate. Visitors should plan time to explore the extensive grounds and note that the area is largely rural.

The house suffered major fire damage during the Civil War but underwent complete restoration in 1948. This restoration effort preserved the building's architectural integrity and made it a notable example of historical preservation work.
