The Earl Gregg Swem Library contains over 2 million books, manuscripts, and digital resources across multiple floors and specialized departments.
The library opened in 1966 after extensive planning, named after Earl Gregg Swem who expanded the college collection from 25,000 to 240,000 books.
Special Collections Research Center preserves manuscripts, rare books, and archives documenting Virginia history from the colonial period to present day.
Students access research assistance, group study rooms, computer labs, and printing services throughout the building's operating hours from morning until midnight.
The Warren E. Burger Collection contains professional papers and personal items from the former Supreme Court Chief Justice who served as Chancellor.
