Phoenix Building/Cincinnati Club, Historic social club in downtown Cincinnati, United States

The Phoenix Building is a historic social club structure in downtown Cincinnati featuring Italian Renaissance architecture and ornate interior spaces. Its facades and rooms showcase intricate Tiffany Glass windows and decorative wood paneling throughout.

Architect Samuel Hannaford designed this structure in 1893 as an original gathering place for Jewish businessmen before it changed ownership to the Cincinnati Club in 1911. This transfer marked a shift in how the space served its community.

The building contains formal dining rooms and gathering spaces where social and professional connections continue to form among visitors and members. These rooms reflect a long tradition of bringing people together for meaningful exchange.

The building sits on Garfield Place and now functions as a private event venue for celebrations and gatherings. Since it operates as a private facility, checking ahead about access and visiting arrangements beforehand is advisable.

In its early years, the Phoenix Club required all events and entertainment to happen in German, showing the strong German-Jewish community presence in Cincinnati at that time. This language rule reveals how much the founding members valued their cultural roots.
