Saxony Apartment Building

The Saxony Apartment Building is a five-story residential structure in Cincinnati with brick walls, decorative pilasters, bay windows, and semicircular balconies. Stone ornaments and wrought iron railings frame the exterior on its Ninth and Race Street sides.

The building was designed by the architectural firm Hannaford and Sons in 1891 during a period of intense urban growth in downtown Cincinnati. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The National Register of Historic Places added this building to its records on March 3, 1980, recognizing its role in the architectural evolution of Hamilton County.

The building is located at the corner of Ninth and Race Streets in downtown Cincinnati and is easily accessible on foot. Today it continues to serve as an apartment building, so visitors can view the exterior from the street.

The building features two architecturally equal main facades since it stands on a prominent corner, with both sides designed with equal care. This shows how residential structures of the period were crafted to present finished details on all visible sides.
