John Humphreys House, Historic house museum in Swampscott, Massachusetts.

John Humphreys House is a colonial-era residence in Massachusetts with traditional New England features such as steeply pitched rooflines and multiple windows spanning two stories. The wooden structure demonstrates characteristic construction methods found in early American dwellings.

The house dates to around 1700, though it was initially attributed to deputy governor John Humphrey. Its actual construction period was later corrected through architectural analysis.

The house displays residential practices from early colonial times through its construction details and offers visitors insight into the craftsmanship and daily habits of that era.

The house is open to visitors and maintained by the Swampscott Historical Society. Guided tours explain colonial-era construction techniques and daily living practices.

The building was moved from its original location on Elmwood Road in 1891. This relocation occurred during development of the Olmsted district, representing a rare instance of a historic house being relocated.
