Lynn Masonic Hall, building in Massachusetts, United States
Lynn Masonic Hall is a clubhouse in Lynn, Massachusetts, built in 1880 in Gothic style with brick and limestone trim. The four-story building contains large halls for meetings and events, with offices and rental spaces occupying the upper floors.
Originally built in 1880 as the first Lynn YMCA building, it was sold to the local Masonic lodge in 1907. The structure remains one of only two Victorian Gothic buildings still standing in downtown Lynn.
The hall has served as a gathering place for the local Masonic fraternity and the broader community for generations. Members use the space for meetings, ceremonies, and social activities that reinforce bonds of friendship and service.
The building is located at 64-68 Market Street and stands out with its pointed arch windows and brick exterior decorated with stone carvings. Access is typically restricted since it functions as a private clubhouse, though the exterior architecture can be viewed from the street.
The building served as the original Lynn YMCA, one of the earliest in the country, before becoming a Masonic gathering space. This shift shows how historic buildings adapt to meet different community needs over more than a century.
