High Rock Tower Reservation, National historic district on High Rock hill in Lynn, United States.
High Rock Tower is a granite structure rising 85 feet (26 meters) from a porphyry outcrop and provides views of Boston, Nahant, Salem, and the Atlantic Ocean. The site includes historic Gothic Revival cottages that form part of the designated historic district.
The tower was constructed in 1905 to replace an earlier wooden structure at a site where Native American leader Nanapashemet had established his headquarters. This location held importance in the early settlement and governance of the region.
The Hutchinson Family, noted abolitionists and musicians, built Gothic Revival cottages here and held Civil War rallies and concerts at this location. The site served as a gathering place for those opposing slavery.
The observation area is accessible by walking along paths that lead upward from the parking area. Clear weather provides the best conditions for enjoying the expansive views across the region.
The structure features LED lighting and laser projectors on all four sides that create nighttime displays visible across the city. These modern installations add a contemporary dimension to the historic location.
