The Shelter operates as an underground music venue beneath Saint Andrew's Hall at 431 East Congress Street in downtown Detroit.

Since the early 1990s, this basement venue has established itself as a cornerstone of Detroit's developing underground music scene.

The venue gained wider recognition through its appearance in the film 8 Mile and its role in launching numerous local Detroit artists.

The Shelter accommodates 400 people and provides advanced ticket sales through the Saint Andrew's Hall website for various musical performances.

International performers, including Queens of the Stone Age and The Hives, share the stage with Detroit bands in this basement location.
