Fredericksburg Town Hall and Market Square

The two-story brick Federal-style building features a five-bay rectangular center block with one-story wings and stone steps at the front entrance.

Built between 1814 and 1816, the structure served as the city offices until 1982 and received National Register of Historic Places status in 1994.

The building now houses the Fredericksburg Area Museum, which presents exhibitions in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit service.

Located at 907 Princess Anne Street, the venue maintains regular opening hours and provides space for community events, civic meetings, and seasonal markets.

Large sandstone arches at the rear of the building lead to Market Square, where public markets operated continuously from the colonial period until the late 1800s.
