Spirit of Justice Park

Spirit of Justice Park is an urban park near the Capitol that spans two blocks with landscaped areas, granite features, and multiple entrances. The space adjoins congressional office buildings and combines green space with functional urban design.

Several historic buildings, including the George Washington Inn, were demolished in 1968 to make way for an underground parking facility. The present park emerged as a new development on this location.

The park serves as a meeting place near the Capitol and reflects the neighborhood's connection to democratic institutions. People use the space to rest between activities and experience the proximity to government centers.

The park is easily accessible via the Capitol South Metro station, with entrances at the southeast corner and Capitol Street Southeast. Visitors should note that the area can be busier during congressional sessions.
