Wheaton Regional Park, Regional park in Wheaton, United States.
Wheaton Regional Park is a 536-acre protected area with multiple recreation zones, athletic fields, tennis courts, and an ice arena. A network of hiking trails runs through forested sections and connects the various facilities together.
The park was established in 1960 by combining multiple land parcels into a single protected area. The Harper Family Log House, a restored wooden cabin from the 1870s, was relocated here in 1976 to preserve early settlement history.
The Brookside Gardens section displays plant collections and hosts regular programs focused on native species and seasonal exhibitions. Visitors can observe how gardening traditions connect with local nature here.
The area is open from sunrise to sunset and features eight reservable picnic shelters that each accommodate up to 40 people. It is advisable to book the shelters in advance, especially on weekends and during warmer months.
The grounds feature a restored 1915 carousel from the National Mall that still operates and reminds visitors of historical amusements. A miniature train with a replica of an 1863 locomotive travels through woodland paths and offers a playful perspective on the landscape.
