The Towers, University dormitory in Columbus, United States
The Towers are two 26-story residential buildings named Lincoln Tower and Morrill Tower at Ohio State University. Each suite houses 8 to 12 students and shares bathrooms and common living areas, with 60 to 70 students living on each floor.
Construction began in March 1965 and concluded in August 1967, followed by an official dedication that November. In 1975, the lower 14 floors of Lincoln Tower shifted from student housing to office use, while upper levels continued serving as residence.
Morrill Tower is named after Representative Justin Morrill, who championed the Land Grant Act to expand access to higher education. The buildings represent this commitment to making university education available to students from diverse backgrounds.
The buildings sit directly along the river, offering student housing with shared bathrooms and living spaces in each suite. Daytime visits work best, as access may be restricted depending on current university policies for visitors.
The towers were originally designed purely for student housing, but the 1975 conversion shows how university buildings adapt to changing needs. This mixed-use approach remains visible today in how the two towers serve different functions.
