The St. Rose of Lima Mission features colored stone blocks in its construction and stands as a testament to traditional Catholic architecture.
Founded in the 1850s as a log cabin mission church, the current stone structure was constructed between 1877 and 1879 under Father Denis D. Leyden.
The church received its current name in 1885, replacing its original dedication to the Holy Innocents through a decision by Father Pommer and Father Wynne.
Located at 13370 Highway 32, the church operates under the administration of the Vincentians as part of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville.
Students and brothers from St. Mary's of the Barrens contributed 30,000 shingles for the church's roof during its construction period.
