Abrahamic Family House, Multi-faith complex in Saadiyat Island, United Arab Emirates.
The Abrahamic Family House is an interfaith complex on Saadiyat Island in the United Arab Emirates, composed of three separate buildings on a shared platform. St Francis Church, Imam Al-Tayeb Mosque, and Moses Ben Maimon Synagogue have identical external dimensions and stand side by side.
The project emerged after Pope Francis and Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb signed the Document on Human Fraternity in February 2019. Construction finished in 2023, opening the doors for the first time to visitors from around the world.
The name references Abraham, whom three religions trace their common origin to. Visitors today see people from different faiths praying and learning in side-by-side buildings, while they use the spaces for dialogue and encounter.
Visitors can join guided tours, attend religious services, or observe religious ceremonies. A learning center offers additional educational programs for individuals and groups.
The complex houses the first purpose-built synagogue in the United Arab Emirates. This step marks an important moment for interfaith exchange in the region.
