The Parliament Buildings consist of three main structures - Centre Block with Peace Tower, East Block, and West Block, built in Gothic Revival style.
Construction began in 1859, but after a major fire in 1916 destroyed the Centre Block, architects John Pearson and Jean-Omer Marchand rebuilt it.
The Parliament Buildings function as Canada's federal legislative center, where the House of Commons and Senate make national decisions.
Free guided tours in English and French allow visitors to explore the chambers, halls, and Peace Tower throughout the day.
The Library of Parliament remained intact after the 1916 fire due to iron doors that prevented flames from entering the structure.
