Queen's Hill Estate, Public rental housing complex in Kwan Tei, Hong Kong
Queen's Hill Estate is a public rental housing complex in the North District of Hong Kong with seven tower blocks spread across nearly 14 hectares. The buildings provide more than 8800 rental units ranging in size from 14 to 35 square meters (150 to 380 square feet).
The site was part of Queen's Hill Camp until 2013, used for decades by British Forces stationed in Hong Kong. After the land was returned, the new housing complex was built between 2017 and 2021 to accommodate the growing population of the region.
Named after the former British military camp that once occupied this land, the development now forms a self-contained neighborhood with schools and shops at ground level. Residents use the shared playgrounds and green spaces between the towers as meeting points for daily life.
The tower blocks are located in the northern part of Hong Kong near the border with Shenzhen and are accessible by public transport. Visitors will find community facilities and small shops for daily needs on the ground floor of the buildings.
Each unit comes equipped with space-saving furniture like fold-down tables and wall beds designed for the compact floor plans. The seven towers have a butterfly-shaped layout with 32 apartments per floor, arranged to improve ventilation and daylight in all rooms.
