The Tsz Tak Study Hall maintains its original Chinese architectural form with halls arranged around a central courtyard in the North District.
Built in 1846, this educational institution prepared students for Chinese imperial civil service examinations during the Qing Dynasty period.
The study hall functioned as both an educational center and a communal space where local families gathered for ceremonies and festivities.
The building opens from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a lunch break between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM, remaining closed on Tuesdays.
After British control of the New Territories in 1898, this study hall transformed into one of Hong Kong's first public schools with English instruction.
