Artilleriewerk Krattigen, Military fortress in Krattigen, Switzerland
The artillery fortress contains three gun positions connected through a tunnel system with a central command room and technical installations on Lake Thun.
The fortress was constructed between 1941 and 1942 as part of General Guisan's defense strategy, housing Battery 134 and later Battery 129.
The fortress represents Switzerland's defensive military strategy during World War II, incorporating heavy artillery to protect the Einigen checkpoint.
The fortress offers guided tours from 10:00 to 17:00, with entrance fees of 5 Swiss francs for adults and 3 Swiss francs for children.
From 1970 to 1976, the empty fortress served as a communications center for military attachés stationed abroad.
