Messe Torhaus, Postmodern skyscraper in Bockenheim, Germany
Messe Torhaus is a 30-story skyscraper rising 117 meters, featuring a red stone facade with mirrored glass surfaces in its central section. The structure combines traditional and modern materials into a striking profile above the Frankfurt fairground.
Hochtief construction company completed this administrative building in 1984 with approximately 400 workers finishing the project within 13 months. The structure rose during a period when Frankfurt was rapidly modernizing its skyline to support expanding fairground operations.
The building serves as a central hub for Messe Frankfurt events, providing exhibition spaces and meeting areas for international business gatherings. Visitors experience constant interaction between exhibitors and international professionals from various industries.
Levels two and three contain service facilities for exhibitors, including booth construction assistance, catering services, and information centers. Visitors can find all necessary support services for their fairground activities in these accessible sections.
The structure incorporates a heating plant chimney system that releases visible vapor clouds from the tower during cold weather. This feature makes the tower distinctly recognizable from afar on winter days and gives it a dynamic appearance.
