WestendGate, Modern skyscraper in Westend, Germany
The WestendGate is a modern 47-story skyscraper in Frankfurt's Westend district standing 159.3 meters tall. The building houses hotel rooms, office space, and event facilities distributed across multiple levels with a distinctive entrance pavilion.
The building was completed in 1976 according to designs by architects Siegfried Hoyer and Richard Heil and briefly became Germany's tallest structure upon completion. Since 1989, the Marriott Hotel Group has operated the upper 18 floors, transforming the high-rise into an international business and tourism hotel.
The name "WestendGate" references its location in Frankfurt's Westend district, an area that has become known for upscale hotels and international business activity. Visitors notice the mix of business travelers and international guests moving through the building, which has become a central meeting point for conferences and events.
The building sits near Frankfurt's major western traffic routes and offers convenient accessibility. Guest areas including lobbies and meeting spaces are located on easily accessible levels throughout the structure.
During a major renovation project, energy-saving measures achieved a significant reduction in the building's carbon emissions. The work proceeded while the hotel continued operating at full capacity, making the modernization particularly challenging to execute.
