Bergkopf

Bergkopf rises to 857 meters in the Sparneck Forest, surrounded by dense woodland and dotted with granite rock formations on its slopes and peak. The rocky structures create a distinctive natural landscape that shapes how hikers experience the climb.

The summit served as a landmark in the Fichtelgebirge region and bears a monument to forester Johann Braun, who died there in 1881. This memorial reflects the risks that early forest managers faced while working in these mountains.

The summit is integrated within Naturpark Fichtelgebirge, where visitors encounter the region's deep connection to forestry and mountain traditions still visible in daily life. The area reflects how local communities have long worked and lived alongside this woodland landscape.

Among the 97 summits in Landkreis Hof, this peak ranks third in elevation, and two rivers named the Foermitz and Lamitz originate near neighboring peaks. This location at the source of major waterways makes it a notable hydrological junction for the region.
