Haus Hove, Architectural heritage monument in Volmarstein, Germany.
Haus Hove is a manor complex in Oberwengern near Volmarstein, composed of a residential building, a sheep barn, and a round tower. The ensemble retains the typical layout of a medieval estate with its original stone walls and recognizable tower structure.
The manor originated in the 14th century when Knight Kunibert of Burg Volmarstein owned it and used it as an agricultural estate. Later the site came under Church control through the Archdiocese of Cologne.
The name reflects its past role as a manor house that served as the center of rural life for generations. Today the converted complex with its old walls and distinctive tower shapes how people experience the surrounding area.
The building has housed the Kunstakademie Wetter since 2008, an active center for art education and creative work. Visitors can view the complex from outside and explore the grounds while observing how the different structures maintain their historical character.
A bronze plaque at the entrance commemorates visits by poet Hoffmann von Fallersleben between 1820 and 1845, when he met Henriette von Schwachenberg. These encounters link the place to literary history and a notable love story from the Romantic era.
