Krupp-Hauptverwaltung

The Krupp administrative building is an office structure in Essen that was built as a multi-story workplace for management and staff. It retains its original interior layout with offices, corridors, and stairs that show how the administration was organized at the time.

The building was constructed in 1939 and served as the administrative center for artillery production during World War II. It remained under corporate control until 2022 when it was sold to new ownership.

The building shows traces of its past as a power center of a major industrial corporation, and visitors can see how work and authority were organized here. The architecture itself tells of a time when this place was the heart of Ruhr industry.

The building still operates one of the few working paternoster elevators in the region, which you can see in action. From 2025 onwards, it will house new municipal offices, which may bring regular visiting hours for the public.

The private office of one of the company's last leaders remains unchanged, keeping the furniture and objects as he left them. An old safe in the building stands as a reminder of when major financial decisions were made here.
