Brickyard Lage, Industrial heritage museum in Lage, Germany.
The Brickyard Lage is an industrial museum housed in a former brick factory that operated from 1909 to 1979. The site preserves kilns, production areas, and residential buildings that document daily operations and life during that period.
The factory started brick and building material production in 1909 using kiln-based and manual methods. After the war, production modernized, but the facility closed in 1979 and was later preserved as a museum site.
The living spaces reveal how factory owners and workers inhabited completely separate worlds. The owner's mansion sits near modest worker cottages, showing the sharp class divisions of that era.
The museum site is easily accessible and offers guided tours along with separate buildings to explore. Visitors should allow plenty of time for the full grounds, as the site covers more area than it first appears.
Twice yearly, the original machinery is activated to produce about 10,000 bricks using traditional methods. Visitors can watch how handcraft and machinery techniques work together to bring production back to life.
