Orangerie Putbus

Orangerie Putbus sits at the northern edge of Putbus Park and displays French architectural design with a central pavilion and symmetrical wings. The building combines these classical elements with modern exhibition spaces for contemporary art.

Prince Wilhelm Malte I commissioned this building in the 18th century as both a greenhouse and festive hall. The orangery was an important part of the princely estate and served to store rare plants.

The name comes from its original purpose as a winter shelter for orange trees and exotic plants. Today visitors experience contemporary art exhibitions and discover works by regional artists in this transformed space.

The grounds are open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, and visitors can easily reach the location at Alleestraße 35 by public transportation. Allow some time to view the exhibitions and explore the park grounds.

The central pavilion houses a civil registry office where couples can arrange their wedding ceremony while overlooking the planted courtyard. This unexpected function blends historical architecture with modern life events.
