Taza National Park, National park in Jijel Province, Algeria
Taza National Park is a protected reserve in the Tell Atlas Mountains with views of the Gulf of Béjaïa and Mediterranean landscapes. It consists of three distinct zones with different habitats and vegetation types.
The park was established in 1984 by Algerian government decree as a protected natural area. This designation was part of efforts to safeguard key ecosystems in the region.
The park's name derives from the Taza Mountains, which have been home to local communities for generations. This area remains important for traditional forest practices and for people who spend time in nature.
The area lies roughly 20 kilometers from Jijel city and can be explored by means of multiple hiking trails. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and the best time to visit is spring or autumn.
The area is home to the endangered Barbary macaque, one of the world's rarest primate species. This protected space plays a crucial role in the survival of this rare animal.
