Pazo of Castrelos

Pazo of Castrelos is a noble mansion in Vigo featuring a rectangular layout with two square towers at its corners and a white-washed central section. Wrought-iron balconies decorate the facade, and the property is surrounded by gardens with a circular pool in the front courtyard.

This mansion was built during the 17th century and displays the coat of arms of the Tavares family on its facade. It received official status as a historical-artistic monument in 1955, formally recognizing its importance to the region.

The mansion now houses the Quiñones de León Municipal Museum, displaying archaeological artifacts and paintings that represent the region's heritage. Visitors walk through galleries where local history comes alive through objects and artworks on display.

Visitors can explore both the interior of the mansion and its surrounding gardens during a visit to the property. It helps to wear comfortable shoes since there are walkways throughout the gardens and the grounds have some uneven surfaces.

Each of the two identical stone towers features a balcony on the second floor with a stone shield carved between the second and third levels. These matching architectural details give both towers a distinct character that sets them apart from similar structures elsewhere.
