Παπαστράτειο δημοτικό πάρκο

Papastrateio Municipal Park is an urban green space with walking paths, playgrounds, and recreational areas in Agrinio. The grounds also feature a small church called Agia Sotira and include a refreshment stand for visitors.

The Papastratos brothers purchased the land in 1919, formerly called Lykorachia, from poet Kostas Hatzopoulos and transformed it into a public space. This private initiative eventually created a significant green area for the city.

The grounds host theatrical performances, music concerts, and local celebrations during warmer months that draw both residents and visitors. These gatherings shape the rhythm of city life and establish the space as a central meeting point for the community.

The park is easily walkable and offers multiple areas for rest along paths and green spaces for regular visits. With a refreshment stand and play area, the site works well for longer stays with family or casual walks.

The tobacco industry family Papastratos left behind not only economic influence but also this green space that reflects their family legacy in the city. The original design from that era remains visible and tells of the connection between industry and urban growth.
