Prološko blato, Protected wetland in Imotski field, Croatia.

The protected area encompasses a vast karst field that transforms into an intermittent lake, creating a seasonal water system in Dalmatia.

In 1971, Croatian authorities designated Prološko blato as a protected landscape, covering 994 hectares of wetland ecosystem.

The northern hill, named Manastir, contains remains of a Franciscan monastery that becomes an island during high water periods.

The water surface fluctuates seasonally, with only a small section remaining submerged throughout the year while winter brings complete flooding.

The wetland provides essential habitats for migratory birds and contains native plant species adapted to the periodic flooding cycles.
