Castel San Pietro, Medieval fortress on hill in Verona, Italy
Located on a hilltop, the stone castle features high defensive walls and cylindrical towers overlooking the Adige River and Verona's historic center point.
The current structure stands on foundations dating from the Roman era and underwent significant modifications during the Austrian rule in the nineteenth century.
The castle grounds contain an exhibition space dedicated to regional art collections and architectural displays representing different periods of Italian military construction.
Visitors can reach the castle by taking the funicular railway from Piazza Castello or climbing the stone stairway through the terraced gardens.
The castle terrace provides a complete view of Verona's Roman amphitheater, medieval bridges, and bell towers from a single elevated position.
