Villa Piaggio, Renaissance villa in Castelletto, Italy
Villa Piaggio is a residential mansion in Castelletto, Genoa, extending with two lateral loggia wings oriented toward the Mediterranean Sea. The structure combines architectural elements from different periods, with its elegant arcades reflecting classic Italian villa design.
The villa was built in the 15th century by the Moneglia family and later passed through various Genoese families. In the 19th century, architect Ippolito Cremona performed a major restoration for the Pinelli Gentile family.
The villa belonged to wealthy merchant families from Genoa who used it to display their prosperity and status in the community. You can still see the refined rooms that reflect this period of affluence.
Access is through the entrance at Corso Firenze 24, where government offices are located today. Check ahead about visiting opportunities since the building remains in active use for official purposes.
A property assessment from the 18th century listed this residence as one of the largest villas within the city walls. This high rating shows how significant the building was in Genoese society at that time.
