Durazzo-Pallavicini Palace, Baroque palace in Via Balbi, Genoa, Italy.
The Durazzo-Pallavicini Palace is a Baroque building on Via Balbi in Genoa featuring a U-shaped layout on a triangular plot. The courtyard contains diverging staircases, and hanging gardens line the street-facing side of the structure.
Bartolomeo Bianco designed the palace in the early 1600s for Gio Agostino Balbi. Marcello Durazzo purchased the property in 1710, which led to the name it carries today.
The palace holds an extensive private art collection featuring works by artists such as Titian and Rubens. This collection reflects the wealth and cultural connections of the Genoese noble families who lived here.
The palace is part of the Palazzi dei Rolli UNESCO World Heritage Site and is recognized for its historical role in hosting distinguished visitors. Visitors should explore the main entrance and courtyard to fully appreciate the architectural features.
The building combines architectural elements from two different streets and features an innovative staircase system that separates different sections of the palace. This unusual design allows the palace to be accessed from two separate sides.
