Imashirozuka Ancient History Museum

The Imashirozuka Ancient History Museum displays numerous clay figures and artifacts recovered from an adjacent sixth-century burial mound. The building houses these finds in exhibition halls organized to show the range of objects from that period.

The museum preserves artifacts from Japan's Kofun period through collections gathered during excavations beginning in the 1990s. These finds document an important era when large burial mounds and ritual objects were made.

The exhibition halls display ritual clay figures from the Kofun period showing warriors, animals, and objects from daily life. These pieces reveal how people of that era understood burial practices and the afterlife.

The museum is within walking distance of Settsu-Tonda Station and offers parking for visitors. It is helpful to check opening hours in advance and allow time to explore the exhibition halls at a comfortable pace.

Adjacent to the museum sits a ritual precinct containing roughly 190 clay figures arranged in their original positions from the sixth century. This intact grouping offers rare insight into ancient burial rituals and how the space was organized.
