Kōchi-ji, Buddhist temple in Takatsuki, Japan
Kōchi-ji features a burgundy five-tiered pagoda and expansive temple grounds with gardens that change appearance through spring and autumn seasons.
The temple, established during the 8th century when Buddhism spread across Japan, maintains its position as the 31st stop on the Shikoku Pilgrimage route.
The temple houses numerous Buddhist statues and important scrolls in its treasure hall, serving as a center for religious studies and spiritual practices.
Visitors can reach the temple via a 25-minute ride on the My Yu Bus from Kochi Station and access the main hall for an entrance fee.
The temple stands as one of the 88 official temples along the circular Shikoku Pilgrimage route, where pilgrims follow the path of Buddhist monk Kobo Daishi.
