Aquapia Akutagawa

Aquapia Akutagawa displays freshwater and marine species in separate exhibition areas designed to represent different aquatic environments. The tanks are organized by habitat type, so visitors can understand the diversity of various water ecosystems.

The opening in February 2018 established this as a new educational facility in the Osaka region. This creation was part of growing efforts to make knowledge about water habitats and their inhabitants more accessible.

The facility shows how Japanese traditions of observing water life are combined with modern exhibition methods. You notice the emphasis on gentle interactions between visitors and the aquatic environment.

Visitors should explore the aquarium during daylight hours to clearly see the tanks and habitats. Guided tours help you understand the details and differences between the various exhibition areas.

After sunset, visitors can experience special evening programs that showcase nocturnal aquatic life. These nighttime viewings reveal completely different animal behaviors and how water spaces transform in darkness.
