北浦大橋, Steel bridge over Lake Kitaura in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan
The Kitaura Bridge spans 415.3 meters across Lake Kitaura, featuring a three-span continuous plate girder structure and one Langer span design.
The original bridge, opened in 1968, collapsed during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, leading to the construction of the current structure completed in 2012.
The bridge stands as a testament to Japanese engineering resilience, connecting the communities of Namegata City and Hokota City across Lake Kitaura.
The modern bridge structure includes a 6.5-meter wide roadway and a 3.5-meter pedestrian path, accommodating vehicles of all sizes on National Route 354.
The bridge serves as the primary crossing point over Lake Kitaura, integrating advanced seismic protection measures following the lessons learned from the 2011 disaster.
