Sakai Knife Museum

The Sakai Knife Museum displays a collection of traditional Japanese blades, featuring exhibits of kitchen knives, agricultural tools, and specialized cutting instruments.

Since the Muromachi period, Sakai has maintained its position as a primary center for knife production, supplying tools to merchants and craftsmen across Japan.

The museum presents demonstrations by local artisans who shape metal into precise cutting implements using techniques passed down through generations of knife makers.

Visitors can participate in knife sharpening workshops and receive guidance on proper blade maintenance from experienced craftsmen between 10:00 and 17:00 daily.

The facility includes a specialized clinic where experts examine and repair traditional Japanese knives while sharing knowledge about proper care methods.
