市島邸, Historical residence in Shibata, Japan.

The Ichishima residence extends over 600 square meters of building space within an 8000 square meter property featuring gardens and ponds.

The Ichishima family moved to Shibata in 1598 from Tanba region, and after their mansion burned during the Boshin War, they built this residence in the early Meiji period.

The residence includes a traditional stroll garden called Seizuen with seasonal trees surrounding a large pond and multiple stone monuments with poetry inscriptions.

The mansion opens from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM between April and November, and until 4:30 PM from December to March, with admission fees of 630 yen for adults.

The building maintains its original warped glass windows from the Meiji period, which represents a rare architectural element in contemporary Japan.
