Ichishima residence is a house in Shibata featuring buildings, gardens, and water features spread across the property. The structures contain rooms with various functions that reflect how people lived during that period.

The Ichishima family arrived in Shibata in 1598 from the Tanba region and built this house after their original mansion burned down. The reconstruction took place in the early Meiji period and reflects the family's resilience.

The stroll garden called Seizuen features mature trees and a large pond that define the property's character. Visitors can walk among seasonal plants and discover stone monuments inscribed with poetry.

Visiting works best during daylight hours, with longer opening hours during warmer months. Wear comfortable shoes since the grounds include gardens and multiple buildings to explore.

The building preserves original warped glass windows from the Meiji period, which are quite rare today. These windows show how old craft techniques influenced the lasting quality of materials.
