Henmyō Falls

Henmyō Falls is a waterfall in Kamikawa that drops down a rocky face over multiple stages, flowing continuously through dense vegetation. The water pools in different sections as it descends and remains visible throughout all seasons.

The site developed over time as a place where people observed and enjoyed nature in its surroundings. The area shows signs of human settlement and use that connected generations of inhabitants to the water.

Local inhabitants share stories about the Kappa water deity, which they believe resides in the pure waters of the falls and surrounding waterways.

The falls can be reached via walking trails maintained by the local area year-round. There are designated spots for parking and viewing from different angles along the pathways.

In cold months, the water freezes and creates columns of ice along its different tiers. This frozen form shows a completely different structure than flowing water and attracts visitors looking for winter scenery.
