Hyakuhiro Falls, Waterfall in Okutama, Japan.

The Hyakuhiro Falls cascade down 40 meters through dense forest, creating white water streams along the Kawakoketani River in the mountains of Tokyo Prefecture.

The waterfall has long served as a natural marker for travelers crossing the mountainous regions between Tokyo and neighboring prefectures since the Edo period.

Local residents consider the falls a representation of Tokyo's natural diversity, contrasting with the metropolitan character typically associated with Japan's capital.

Visitors need to take a bus from Okutama Station to Kawanoribashi stop, followed by a 90-minute hike through steep terrain to reach the waterfall.

The waterfall freezes partially during winter months, forming natural ice sculptures that transform the appearance of the cascade.
