Kobe Planet Film Archive, Film museum and cinema archive in Nagata-ku, Japan.
The Kobe Planet Film Archive maintains a collection of 18,000 films, 10,000 books, and numerous promotional materials documenting the history of cinema.
Founded in 1974 by Director Yasui Yoshio, the institution expanded from a personal collection to become one of Japan's largest privately operated film archives.
The facility preserves both mainstream and overlooked Japanese films, ensuring the protection of national cinema heritage through systematic documentation and restoration.
The archive contains a 38-seat screening room with professional 35mm projection equipment, offering film screenings during weekends and special events.
The collection includes rediscovered films such as Ryogoku Grand Sumo from 1895, which represents one of the earliest recordings of Japanese sports events.
