The Hosomi Museum exhibits traditional Japanese art pieces in a modern building designed by architectural firm Plantec, featuring special exhibition spaces and galleries.
Established in 1994 by the Hosomi family of art collectors, the museum officially opened its doors to the public on March 22, 1998.
The museum organizes temporary exhibitions focusing on Japanese aesthetics, including collections of paintings, ceramics, and decorative objects from different periods.
Located near Higashiyama Station on the Tozai subway line, the museum offers guided tours and maintains regular exhibitions throughout the year.
The institution received the BCS Prize for its contributions to Japanese arts and implements educational programs connecting traditional art with contemporary audiences.
