Kosetsu Museum of Art

The Kosetsu Museum of Art displays numerous Japanese artworks, including 19 Important Cultural Properties and 23 Important Art Objects in its collection.

The museum opened in 1973 to exhibit the collection of Ryuhei Murayama, founder of Asahi Shimbun newspaper, who gathered ancient Japanese and Asian art pieces.

The museum organizes traditional tea ceremonies by the Yabunouchi school, using its own collection of tea utensils within its Japanese-style buildings.

Visitors can reach the museum by taking a five-minute walk from Mikage Station on the Hankyu Kobe Line or a fifteen-minute walk from Sumiyoshi Station.

The museum buildings, formerly the Murayama residence, represent architectural techniques from the Meiji and Taisho periods and hold national cultural property status.
