Sera Art Gallery

Sera Art Gallery is an art museum in Mikage displaying contemporary and traditional Japanese works across two floors. The building contains multiple exhibition spaces that showcase different collections and artistic approaches.

The gallery was founded in 1992 by Tomie Sera as a private art space. Later, the building earned the Kobe City Architectural Culture Award for its contribution to the local architectural landscape.

The exhibitions here rotate regularly, presenting works from emerging Japanese artists alongside established names in the art scene. You see contemporary pieces displayed next to traditional work, showing how different styles coexist in Japanese art today.

The gallery sits just a short walk from Mikage Station on the Hankyu Railway line. It is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, though it remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The building sits in an area known for sake brewing, with four major distilleries within walking distance. This location creates an interesting overlap where you can explore both contemporary art and traditional craft production in one visit.
