Kiku-Masamune Sake Brewery Museum, Alcoholic drinks museum in Uozaki Nishimachi, Japan
Kiku-Masamune Sake Brewery Museum is an alcoholic drinks museum in Uozaki Nishimachi displaying traditional sake production tools and objects designated as Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties of Japan. The collection showcases the handcrafted techniques and equipment used across more than three centuries of brewing at this location.
Kiku-Masamune was founded in 1659 and has been refining sake brewing techniques for more than three centuries. The museum opened in 1960 to preserve and share this extended heritage with visitors.
The kimoto-zukuri method, shown through the exhibits, reveals a four-week hand process that shapes how traditional Japanese sake develops its character. Visitors can see how this careful approach remains central to the brewery's work today.
The museum is located at 1-9-1 Uozaki-Nishimachi and opens from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily. Guided tours with QR codes in multiple languages allow visitors to navigate the exhibits at their own pace.
Visitors can dress in traditional happi coats while at the museum for commemorative photographs. The visit also includes the chance to sample fresh namazake and taste daiginjo-flavored ice cream available in the shop.
