Choshi Port Tower, Observation tower in Choshi, Japan
The Choshi Port Tower is an observation tower with a distinctive twin-tower design that rises 57.7 meters above the coastal city. From the top, it offers panoramic views across the Pacific Ocean and the mouth of the Tone River.
The tower was built in June 1991 on a site formerly known as Meotogahana Cape, a location with deep geological history. This cape has ancient rock formations showing the passage of millions of years.
The observation deck overlooks daily fishing activities at the port and shows how the maritime traditions remain central to local life. Visitors can watch the rhythm of work that has shaped this coastal community for generations.
The tower is accessible most days and elevators take visitors quickly to the observation decks. It is better to visit on clear days when visibility stretches far across the ocean and plains.
On clear winter days, visitors from the fourth floor can see Mount Fuji in the distance, one of Japan's most recognizable peaks. The same vantage point also reveals modern wind turbines spread across the Kanto plain.
