Tokachi Hills, Theme park in Nakagawa district, Japan
Tokachi Hills is a 5-hectare garden featuring stone pathways, sculpted plantings, and more than 800 roses in 35 varieties. The space includes carefully shaped trees and flower beds arranged to guide visitors through different sections of the grounds.
The garden was established in 2009 as a new attraction for the Hokkaido region. Its creation reflects growing investment in garden spaces as part of local tourism development.
The gardens blend English design with Japanese plantings, creating spaces where visitors walk among flowering cherries and maples that mark the seasons. The layout invites people to pause and enjoy the blend of two gardening traditions in one setting.
The garden is open from late April through mid-October with daily hours from 9 AM to 5 PM. Wear comfortable shoes and plan to spend time walking through the different planted areas.
A pond within the grounds holds water lilies and willow trees that create a natural habitat for dragonflies. This quiet water area contrasts with the formal garden sections and attracts different insects throughout the year.
