Lakefront of Lecco

The waterfront promenade runs along the eastern branch of Lake Como, stretching from Piazza Cermenati north to the Ferry Terminal and south toward the War Memorial. The path offers views of surrounding mountains, especially the distinctive Resegone peak and Alpine heights beyond.

Lecco's lakeside developed as a fishing and trading center, with Pescarenico emerging as the oldest district. A turning point came in 1935 when the waterfront hosted national rowing competitions, with the stone stairway near Malpensata serving as spectator seating.

Pescarenico takes its name from the fishermen who settled here centuries ago, their lives immortalized in Manzoni's novel. The narrow streets and weathered houses still reflect this maritime heritage that shaped the area.

Start from Piazza Cermenati to orient yourself, then follow the waterfront path in either direction. The route is flat and easy to walk, making it accessible throughout the day and suitable for leisurely strolls.

A golden statue of Saint Nicholas stands near the Ferry Terminal, marking a spot where wind conditions often create exceptionally clear views toward the Alpine peaks. This statue remains largely unknown to casual visitors, yet the location reveals mountain silhouettes with remarkable clarity on favorable days.
