Civic Planetarium of Lecco, Scientific museum in Lecco, Italy.
The Civic Planetarium of Lecco sits inside Palazzo Belgiojoso and features a dome 8 meters across with 62 seats, projecting more than 3,200 stars from a specialized projector. The building also holds a library, multimedia room, and exhibition spaces dedicated to astronomy instruments.
The facility was established in May 2004 within Palazzo Belgiojoso and began regular operations on January 8, 2005 under the Deep Space group. The creation of this institution reflected a commitment to bringing science education to Lecco.
The planetarium hosts AstronautiCon every year, a national gathering for space research professionals that has taken place here since 2009. Visitors encounter active research communities and experience how astronomy is part of local life.
The building is straightforward to navigate, with different areas you can explore at your own pace. You can view the astronomy exhibition and library before or after visiting the dome itself.
Inside you can see homemade instruments built by the Deep Space group, including a spark chamber that detects cosmic rays. These handcrafted devices show how astronomers work with simple tools.
