Centro Meridiana

Centro Meridiana is an architectural complex in Lecco featuring three ten-story towers arranged around a central plaza, connected by pedestrian walkways. These pathways link the shopping center with street-level access, allowing people to move through the space in different ways.

The complex opened in 1999 on the grounds of the former Caleotto steelworks, transforming an industrial site into a commercial center. This project represented a major shift in how the city used and developed its older industrial areas.

Japanese artist Susumu Shingu designed rotating sails mounted on the towers, bringing contemporary art into the public realm. These installations give the complex a distinctive visual character that catches the eye from different angles throughout the day.

The complex offers substantial parking across above-ground and underground facilities, making it easy for drivers to find spots. The layout is straightforward to navigate, with clear pathways connecting different sections and good access from surrounding streets.

The site incorporates a large urban park within its grounds, offering green space alongside shopping and dining options. This combination of nature and commerce creates an unexpected oasis for visitors seeking a break from retail activity.
